Scarecrow Weekend!

Event Details

The 39th annual Scarecrow Weekend will be held October 11th-13th in downtown St. Charles, Illinois. 

​

110+ handmade scarecrows will be showcased around town for visitors to view and vote on their favorites. There will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and family fun as well as an Activity Zone with festive photo ops, Scarecrow-to-Go and family activities. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment throughout the 1st Street Plaza throughout the weekend, too!

While visiting, make sure to treat yourself to many sales, specials, and events throughout town including the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show in Pottawatomie Park. ​​

FAQs
  • Will there be food?
    Just Kabobs and Taco Urbano will be selling food in the Lincoln Park Family Zone, and Windy Acres Farm will be selling fall treats here, as well as in the Riverside Activity Zone. The St. Charles Rotary and the St. Charles Kiwanis will also be selling food in the front Municipal Building Parking Lot. There will be a handful of local businesses that will be offering to-go/handheld options, as well. Visitors can also find various food trucks at the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show at Pottawatomie Park.
  • Will there be carnival rides?
    There will be no carnival at Scarecrow Weekend. However, there will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and many free family-friendly activities such as Pumpkin Bowling! There will also be more free family-friendly activities in the Activity Zone including an Inflatable Corn Maze, Pumpkin Painting, and a Rock Climbing Wall, and much more.
  • How much is Scarecrow-to-Go?
    $10 per box. Each bag will include panty hose, twine, an outfit, straw to stuff the scarecrow and directions.
  • Where are the bathrooms?
    There are portable restrooms at Lincoln Park and on the east side of the Municipal Building on Riverside Avenue. The Municipal Building is located at 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174. There will also be portable restrooms on the South Wall of Smallcakes at 117 W. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174.
  • How do I vote for my favorite scarecrow entries?
    Pick up and return voting sheets to the Information Booths located in the Family Zone in Lincoln Park and in front of the Municipal Building, or at the voting box located at the Activity Zone on Riverside Ave. Voting starts Friday at noon and closes on Sunday at 5 p.m. One voting slip per person, one vote per category.
  • Where are the scarecrows located?
    Scarecrows will be exhibited in three different locations: the Family Zone in Lincoln Park, the Activity Zone on Riverside Avenue, and 1st Street. Consult the 2024 Scarecrow Map to view all the scarecrow entries.
  • Where can I park?
    There is free parking all around the city. To view the city parking map, please click HERE. You can also download our Travel St. Charles App HERE, and click on the parking tab to find all St. Charles public parking garages, as well as additional public parking lots available.
  • Will there be a shuttle?
    There will not be a shuttle at Scarecrow Weekend. However, there is free parking available all throughout downtown St. Charles. You can find all the available parking HERE, or on the Travel St. Charles App HERE.
  • Is there spot to park bicycles?
    Yes! At this year's Scarecrow Weekend, there are two designated bike rack areas, thanks to The Bike Rack. You can find bike racks in the Lincoln Park Family Zone, and behind the St. Charles Municipal Building. You can also view the Scarecrow Weekend Brochure HERE for reference.
