FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Event Details The 41st annual Scarecrow Weekend will be held October 9th-11th in downtown St. Charles, Illinois. 120+ handmade scarecrows will be showcased around town for visitors to view and vote on their favorites. There will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and family fun as well as an Activity Zone with festive photo ops, Scarecrow-to-Go and family activities. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment on the 1st Street Plaza throughout the weekend, too! While visiting, make sure to treat yourself to many sales, specials, and events throughout town including the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show in Pottawatomie Park. Get Started Here Frequently Asked Questions General Scarecrow Contest Transportation Will there be food? Just Kabobs and Taco Urbano will be selling food in the Lincoln Park Family Zone, and Windy Acres Farm will be selling fall treats in the Riverside Activity Zone. The St. Charles Rotary and Franklins Hot Dogs will also be selling food in the front Municipal Building Parking Lot. There will be a handful of local businesses that will be offering to-go/handheld options, as well. Visitors can also find various food trucks at the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show at Pottawatomie Park. Will there be carnival rides? There will be no carnival at Scarecrow Weekend. However, there will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and many free family-friendly activities such as Pumpkin Bowling! There will also be more free family-friendly activities in the Activity Zone including an Inflatable Corn Maze, Pumpkin Painting, and a Rock Climbing Wall, and much more. How much is Scarecrow-to-Go? $10 per box. Each bag will include panty hose, twine, an outfit, straw to stuff the scarecrow and directions. Where are the bathrooms? There are portable restrooms at Lincoln Park and on the east side of the Municipal Building on Riverside Avenue. The Municipal Building is located at 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174. There will also be portable restrooms on the South Wall of Smallcakes at 117 W. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174. Is the event dog-friendly? Yes! Scarecrow Weekend is a dog-friendly event.     The Scarecrow Contest will take place during Scarerow Weekend October 10th - 12th. Look at all of the unique handcrafted scarecrows on display downtown St. Charles throughout the weekend. The Scarecrow Contest, sponsored by Teqworks , begins Friday afternoon and concludes Sunday at 5pm. Look at all of the unique handcrafted scarecrows on display downtown St. Charles throughout the weekend. The Scarecrows will be on display at the Family Zone in Lincoln Park, Activity Zone in Riverside Avenue, and 1st Street. The four scarecrow categories: Business Lincoln Park Individual 1st Street Club/Not-for-Profit/School Riverside Avenue Mechanical/Mega Lincoln Park Paper Learn How to Vote Pick up a physical voting ballot from an Information Booth by the Municipal Building or in the Family Zone and Activity Zone! As you explore the event searching for your favorite scarecrows, you'll be able to vote for one entry in each category. Once complete, drop off your ballot at an Information Booth or at the ballot box on 1st Street. Don't forget to grab your "I Voted" sticker! Voting on the Travel St. Charles App Step Download the Travel St. Charles App by clicking HERE , or by clicking on the buttons below. Step Click on the 'Challenges' button and select the category you are voting for. Step To vote, press "Check-In Now", allow location access, and the press submit! *IMPORTANT*: Please enable location and camera settings. Both must be on to vote on the app. You must click the "Scan QR Code" before scanning the QR code. If you do not, it will not register your vote.     Learn about the history of Scarecrow Weekend and see how this renowned community event has evolved throughout the years. History Scarecrow Weekend is an award-winning event and a community favorite St. Charles tradition since 1985. What began as a small fall festival featuring just 39 scarecrows and drawing an estimated 10,000 visitors quickly grew in popularity. By it's fifth year in 1989, the event had more than doubled in size, showcasing 80 scarecrows and attracting more than 40,000 attendees. Today, Scarecrow Weekend has evolved into a three-day community celebration, featuring more than 110 unique scarecrows and welcoming over 80,000 visitors from near and far. Guests can also enjoy live entertainment, family-friendly activities, delicious food, festive fall attractions, and more - making it a highlight of the season for both locals and visitors across the country.
